Work in progress

I've been working on my icicle painting. It's close to being done, but isn't yet. (I think. I could be wrong.) I kind of like the stage it's currently at, so I took a (bad) picture of it. I've been using acrylic paint, acrylic markers, and a tiny bit of oil-based sharpies.  The silver sharpie is reflective, which looks a bit odd in the picture.

So far I think maybe I've spent 4 or 5 afternoons on this, which is probably the most time I've ever spent on a painting. Usually two afternoons maxes out my patience. But, for some reason, working on this one has been really fun! I think it's because I love my acrylic markers. Such bright colors, and way less messy than paint.

Anyway, here it is (16 by 20 inches):

Potential Future Paintings

I finally cleared off ~240 photos from my phone! Most of them were pictures of my cat. The following pictures are those I was thinking might be fun to paint. Basically, the more hideously photoshopped the photo, the more likely it is I will paint it.

The above is SO RIDICULOUSLY PHOTOSHOPPED that I will paint it for sure! It is barely recognizable as moss and icicles.  It's kind of an ugly photo, but I can see the inner painting. It's gonna look so psychedelic!

This one is EVEN MORE photoshopped, but I kind of like it as it is, so I might just leave it as a photo.

These are from the highway between Montreal and Ottawa, taken on December 29th.  That road is so boring most of the time, but every once in a while the sunsets are pretty.  I kind of hate painting sunsets, though. They always turn out like red blobs. Not enough details I guess.

By contrast, this one looks too hard to paint because it is way too detailed! WHO HAS THE TIME?

Massively color-saturated mud puddle picture!  After I took this photo, I stomped the shit out of that mud puddle in my rain boots. TAKE THAT, WINTER!

Even though it's January the sun is awesome. I <3 u, sun.

Hopefully I will not succumb to winter laziness and I will actually paint/draw something before it's spring. Unlikely, but one can always dream.

Winter Makes me Lazy

But here is a lame gif of my tea:
